Application of LB servo motor and K series double axis servo driver in wood carving machine
1. System Description
Woodworking carving machine is a kind of mechanical carving machine, which is used in furniture decoration, musical instrument industry, wood crafts industry, large area plate plane carving, solid wood furniture, mahogany furniture, solid wood art mural, density board paint free door, composite door, cabinet window door, bedside cabinet, screen carving, etc. Wood carving includes steps: creativity, sketch amplification, rough embryo, polishing and coloring. The wood carving machine consists of three parts: computer, wood carving machine controller and wood carving machine host. Working principle: through the special engraving software configured in the computer, the graphics file is converted into a signal that can control the action of the processing machinery, and the information is transmitted to the controller of the wood engraving machine. Then the controller converts the information into a signal that can drive the motor (position command pulse string), and controls the motion path of the generated shaft of the wood engraving machine. At the same time, the high-speed rotating engraving head (spindle) on the engraving machine can carve various plane or three-dimensional relief figures and characters designed in the computer by cutting the processing materials fixed on the workbench through the cutter, thus realizing the automatic engraving operation. The emergence of wood carving machine makes the carving from sketching to polishing can be automatically completed by the carving machine, greatly reducing the carving time. Multi-head wood carving machine can process multiple wood at the same time, greatly reducing the manual workload.
2.Servo requirements of woodworking carving system
The system is composed of four sets of servo drivers and servo motors plus one machine, eight sets of spindle frequency conversion and motors and one computer control system. As shown below:
Functions of each axis: X, Y axis: horizontal linear motion, direct connection of motor and screw rod; Z axis: vertical motion, direct connection of motor with holding brake and screw rod; A axis: series connection of eight speed reducers, driving the wood to make rotation motion, turning over to another surface after processing one surface for further processing, three-dimensional processing can be completed with other three axes.
2.Introduction to industry matching performance
The servo driver works in the position mode, the host computer sends the position command to the servo driver through the pulse control card, and the servo driver drives the motor to operate according to the given command signal. The relevant wiring diagram is shown below:

2、Relevant parameters are set as follows
The position, speed and current can be observed by host computer, so that the waveform of command and feedback can be observed truly, which is convenient for user debugging and application.
(1)Speed gain adjustment
For the command from the host system, the driver should drive the motor as timely and accurately as possible. To make the motor action closer to the command, adjust the gain.
(2)Electronic gear ratio setting
Take Z-axis as an example. After inching up the target value by 10cm, use a tape measure to measure the actual value. The reciprocal of the ratio of the target value to the actual value is the electronic gear ratio.
(3)Position gain adjustment
3、 Summary
K-series servo supports double axis drive, up to 23 bit absolute encoder, built-in multiple bus interfaces, with the advantages of high-speed response, accurate positioning, short setting time, stable operation, etc., the whole machine basically has no vibration during high-speed processing, no burr and knife mark after processing, and the carving shape is clear and accurate, which has been greatly recognized by wood carving machine customers. The figure below shows the finished products processed by K series servo.
